Residents of HVHS Housing Group’s Residential Care Home, Basingfield Court in Old Basing, Basingstoke had a surprise in store this week. Registered Manager, Rachel Barry organised an Easter treat for the residents of the HVHS Care Home in Old Basing with a visit by Millers Ark Farm of Odiham and some of its own residents!

Basingstoke based Wessex Housing Partnership has been shortlisted from more than 300 entries in the Housing Heroes Awards. This is a new awards scheme launched this year that aims to shine the spotlight on the people and teams that are doing great work in the social/affordable housing sector.

Residents from Basingstoke’s two biggest housing associations, Kingfisher and Sentinel, joined forces with residents from 12 other associations, taking part in a local consultation event as part of a ‘National Conversation’ run by the new Tenant Services Authority (TSA).

The Audit Commission will be inspecting the services provided by Kingfisher in late March 2009. All housing associations are regularly inspected to review the quality of the services they provide to their residents and the community they serve and will look at the quality of Kingfisher’s repairs service, how residents are consulted, how anti-social behaviour is tackled as well as other services they provide.

Two of Hampshire’s leading housing associations, Kingfisher based in Basingstoke and HVHS Housing Group based in Winchester, have taken a big step forward and enhanced their housing management software for the benefit of their residents.

Kingfisher are holding a Homes Road Show on Thursday 12 February between 12.00midday and 7.00pm at the Red Lion Hotel, Basingstoke. This will be the second consecutive year that this event has taken place. Last years Road Show was a huge success, seeing over 200 hopeful homeowners come through the door and Kingfisher are expecting this years Road Show to be even busier! The Road Show, which is being advertised on radio station 210FM, is aimed at people looking to get onto the first rung of the property ladder, either via the New Build Home Buy Scheme or Intermediate Rent.

Kingfisher is bucking the national trend by building 337 new homes for the people of Hampshire, our biggest number yet. Deborah Broadhurst, Group Development Director for Wessex Housing Partnership, of which Kingfisher is a member said, “This is a great achievement for Kingfisher and hundreds of people will now be housed this year in excellent quality, brand new rented or shared ownership housing. The timing could not have been better given that many more people are now finding themselves in housing difficulty.”
