Preserved Right to Buy

If you transferred as a tenant of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to the Association, you may have the right to buy your home.  It is also likely that you will be entitled to a discount from the market value of your home, which is related to the number of years you have been a tenant.  The period you were a tenant with a Council is added to the period you have been a tenant of the Association to calculate your discount entitlement.

Right to Acquire

This Right attaches to certain properties and allows the tenant of that property to purchase it.  To qualify the dwelling must have been built or purchased by Sovereign Kingfisher Limited after 1 April 1997 with the help of Social Housing Grant and not be in an area excluded from the scheme.  In addition there are certain conditions that have to be satisfied by the tenant.

If eligible, an open market valuation of the property is obtained by Sovereign Kingfisher Limited and from this there is a set discount currently £13,500.
